Troop 1589B Leadership

At Troop 1589, we are proud to be a Scout-led troop. That means our Scouts are the ones planning and leading the activities, it’s their adventure! Each year, the Scouts vote to elect their own youth leaders, who make up our Patrol Leaders Council (or PLC). Of course, our adult leaders, including the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters, are always nearby to offer support, guidance, and a little mentoring when needed.

Requirement Tracking

Scoutbook is an internet-based tool that our troop uses for keeping track of our members’ contact information, training, and advancement progress. We also use it as a communication tool to send messages to each other, publish the troop calendar, and share information. Each scout has a profile and advancement record which is maintained by the troop and the national organization.

Service

Volunteering is a key part of the Scouting experience and helps Scouts grow into responsible, community-minded leaders.

Service projects allow Scouts to:

  • Give back to their neighborhoods, schools, places of worship, and the natural world around them
  • Builds character
  • Strengthens communities
  • Brings the Scout Oath and Law to life in a meaningful way

In addition to being a core value of Scouting, service and conservation hours are also a requirement for advancement through many Scout ranks.

This page highlights ongoing and one-time volunteer opportunities that can count toward general service hours, conservation-specific hours, and even provide inspiration for future Eagle Scout projects. Some of these organizations are ones our troop has partnered with in the past. We encourage Scouts and their families to check back often and get involved, you never know where a small act of service might lead!

If you are a local service organization and would like to speak to our scouts about a service project or possible Eagle project, please contact Troop 1589 at boyscouttroop1589 at gmail.com
